Gorgeous lunch for a fiver: Wok to Walk

I’m still hot on the trail of tasty lunches for fewer than five pounds, although I have to admit that my quest is becoming increasingly difficult. But lucky for us, I’ve got some serious snack-detecting skills under my hat.
Today’s gorgeous lunch for a fiver comes from Wok to Walk, a groovy little noodle place in Soho, but there are actually branches all over the world. (Technical note: although my lunch came in at under a fiver, I cannot comment on international pricing policies!)
Wok to Walk does speedy noodle or rice dishes made to order. You choose a noodle/rice/veggie base (£3.95), add in whichever extras you like (meat, baby corn, other add-ons; priced from .45 to £2.00 or so) and then choose a sauce (free!). The Wok-master (Wokker? Wokster?) cooks up your meal then and there, just the way you like it.

Inside Wok to Walk
Meals are served in cute little takeaway boxes, and there’s no uber-inflationary eat-in price policy in effect, so the price on the menu is indeed the price you pay. There are plenty of condiments on hand so you can dress your dish up any way you like, and if digital dexterity’s not your forte, there are forks available as well as chopsticks.

Noodles, veggies and peanut sauce at Wok to Walk
I chose rice noodles and veggies as my base, with peanuts as my add-on and peanut sauce to finish (in for a penny, in for a pound, right?). It was pretty delish – tender noodles (not too soft), crisp veggies and fresh peanuts. The sauces were good too, you could tell they hadn’t been sitting out for days on end.
For just £4.25, I’ll be heading back to try out different combinations (perhaps something less dependent on the peanut?) very soon indeed.

A low-cost lunch indeed
