Have you stopped picking up a cappuccino or latte on your way to work in a bid to save money? When you consider the cost of a daily cappuccino can total £500 throughout the year, it makes perfect financial sense to minimize such lavish spending on coffee consumption. After all, there are far better ways to spend £500!

While avoiding the temptation of the coffee house is great for cash flow, a girl still needs her caffeine high, or at least this girl does, but the question is, what constitutes a suitable replacement? There is of course the trusty cafetière. Handy in the home and office, especially if you’re making coffee for a crowd, although I find the cleaning involved can be a little tiresome…

For those times when you don’t want to mess about with the whole brewing business, then these sachets of instant, yes, I did say instant, coffee from Starbucks may be just what you’re looking for. • 7 lipsticks for the price of 1

by CannyMoola on 20th July 09 at 11:57 am

I’m starting to wonder if up until now my expectations of a lipstick have been too low. Until recently, I was happy with a great colour, glossy shine and staying-power. I didn’t feel let down with just one shade, or wish my lipstick could save me valuable handbag space. Well, that was then. Things are different now – I’ve discovered the new hardworking SpectraColour by Avon. For pretty much the price of just one lipstick, I now have seven colours to choose from – it’s such a great idea I’m not sure why it’s taken so long!

    product-shot

The lipstick features a dark and light version of the shade. Twisting the dial at the bottom squeezes just the right amount of customised colour from the tube. Six colour options are available, including pink, nude, brown and lilac. Read full post

  • Hi Lori, Thanks, yes, I wonder why they didn't go for a red option? Maybe it's in the pipeline – I’ll keep an close eye on developments.

  • Hi Jules, the product just came out last month, so perhaps they will give it a push soon - or maybe it sells itself?!

  • Hi Pauline, Thanks for that, yes, I did mean beautyrocket.co.uk - they have some great clearance deals going on at the moment!

  • How funny you had the Mukka too! It's a really simple idea, and does make good coffee, but I know what you mean about the cleaning - I leave mine in the sink for a while and it seems to make it a lot easier.

  • Wow! these look fab, like the tip about dipping the cakes in the topping. I don't know what to suggest about the chocolate cup cakes, maybe it was the lack of tray, but when it comes to chocolate I'm not fussy how the cake looks!!

  • Hi, your frames are lovely, especially the handbag one. I'm going to keep my eyes open next time I'm in a charity shop.

  • I love this market! I couldn't believe the quality of the food - and at such good prices. This is a great place to go for a delicious lunch if you are out and about in London.

  • Never mind Sassy - the search continues!
